RP Event Revival; Gladatorial Games (Prelude)

Post by GuardianElite »

This the lead in story for the revival of the RP event that got pushed aside due to game glitches at the time. I had to rewrite the beginning and give it more of a KotFE flair. Hopefully this spurs some interest and I will re-post the rosters as well as the games set-up in follow on threads.

Hearing from the other cells on Odessen, Mrysti slammed the datapad down on her desk as she glared up at the two individuals standing before her. One, a former Imperial Commando, the other a Republic grenadier. Both men looked worse for wear having gone 'toe-to-toe' with one another over some dispute involving their former allegiances. This was happening more and more, the further "The Coalition' got into fighting the Zakuul, the more intense the missions became; the more control Mrysti seemed to be losing over her Soldiers. Both men stared straight ahead, neither bothering to explain as the Sergeant Major paced behind them. She wasn't going to bother asking, she already knew what all of it was about. Not the specifics, but it really didn't matter. They were all one unit now and needed to start acting like it. As the Imperial started to speak up, Mrysti slammed her hand on the desk hard making the items on it rattle.

"Don't even...you will speak only when spoken to!!!"

The Imperial quickly closed his mouth as she ran her fingers through her hair with a sigh, sitting back down. These men and women needed a distraction. Had anyone really 'powered-down' in the past few weeks? Sure, Mrysti built them a cantina, but being so busy no one really got to enjoy it and if they did, it was only briefly. Almost everyone was called away to attack a Zakuu target, to help assist in or participate in some kind of operation. Finally, she sat back in the rather plush office chair afforded to her by her unit as their Commander, glaring at both individuals.

"it really doesn't matter who said what to whom...or who started the fight. The fact of the matter is, you both struck one another over something stupid, choosing to fight a war that has long since been over..." Rage simmered inside of her as she sat up quickly slapping the desk again, "...WHEN YOU SHOULD BE SAVING ALL OF THAT AGGRESSION FOR THE REAL ENEMY!!!" Mrysti dropped her head, looking down at the desk's surface. She couldn't afford to discipline either man harshly, she needed every single one of them in the field. Looking up and past the two, Mrysti caught the attention of her Sergeant Major and spoke in a tired, off-handed way as she slumped back down in the seat defeated.

"Sergeant Major, have these two separated...place them both in different squads and away from one another." Pointing her finger, she glared again at the both of them, "So much as a peep from either one of you and both of you will find out WHY I was once called 'The Hammer of the Empire'..." With a scoff and wave of the hand she looked away from the two men, "Get out of my sight!"

Things were going to get worse if she couldn't figure out a way to allow her unit to 'blow off' a little steam. Other facilities on Odessen were reporting the same thing and Mrysti had heard as much from her niece Porchia who was leading the fight back on Tatooine. Old allegiances were popping up, scuffles were becoming all out fist fights and brawls. How long before one of the men pulled a weapon on another? Mrysti desperately needed something to bring all of these old adversaries together, something to build a stronger team and instill some Espirit de corps in all of them.

Opening up the holo-pad she began typing, letting her mind wonder and her fingers translate her brainstorming into a plan...it was time to bring back the Gladiatorial games of old, perhaps with a new flavor to them....
