Just posting up a message on the new forums. EQ2 is still active and I am playing pretty regularly. If anyone out there is looking to group, let me know the times that you generally play and we will see about getting together.

I would love to take you up on the offer, Ryland, but I don't play EQ2 :(

I understand, maybe I will have to come visit another game so that I can find some more active NOR :) Then again, who knows, maybe I will figure out a way to revive EQ2. It's possible ;)

EQ2 is the game I have gone back to more than any other. The last time was a few months ago, but over on the Freeport server. If it peeks my interest again at some point, I'll be sure to log into Ryverwynd and visit :) Wonder if I have a Warden or Defiler over there...

I never tried EQ2. Though I did join NOR in EQ1. I have thought about checking it out and I saw the pictures of the guild hall which looked pretty cool. But there F2P options don't seem as appealing as other games :(

I consider it a toss up depending on the game. Games like DDO and LotRO require you to purchase areas as you advance and also some classes/races. EQ2 gives away the leveling content and dungeons but only a limited selection of classes and races.

There are other games like Runes of Magic that I believe give more of the game away for free (content and classes). Sort of depends on what other F2P options you have tried and like I guess.

With DDO you really don't need to purchase anything. It helps if you spend like $5.00 just to activate a couple more character slots but otherwise you could theoretically play for free all the way through, it certainly isn't required as there is free content for all play levels. DDO does however also not allow you to play a couple of different classes/races unless you either unlock them through game quests or pay for them with real $$. They also allow you to earn Turbine Points via completing quests that you can then use to purchase the content you would normally spend money on.

It was my understanding that with EQ2 F2P you can only level to 20 or some such without purchase? Is this not true? hrmm will have to look into that further.
