Online Roster, the Basics - Preview
Re: Online Roster, the Basics - Preview
Have you started a real discussion of roster gathering, compiling and entry yet? Is there a cloud save your roster archeologists can work out of and share info?

I have a ton of rosters from DAoC and DDO. They should include any awards etc we gave out as well.
This is so so exciting! Something I always felt like we needed and I really appreciate all the work you are putting into this Lasarian

So far Roxanne, Tundrra and Lakasha have volunteered for data entry. Tundrra has already forwarded all of the rosters he has, Lakasha says she has some as well. The plan is to upload current information for the existing realms first and work our way back, but even that will require some research for long term members.Talolan wrote:Have you started a real discussion of roster gathering, compiling and entry yet? We have not yet discussed any shared resources to work from.
As for the historical rosters, there are a few ways to approach this. What I am favoring now is a member by member method. Gather all the information from all sources on a single member and collate that data into a single profile then enter it. We'll have to set some ground rules though, for example, Abin has two Squire dates, one for December 30th of 1996, one for January 1st of 1997. When we have conflicting dates like that, do we accept the earlier or later date? Do we ask the member for their recollection?

Did a full run-through test of the Roster this evening and it went rather well. All of the functionality is there, just need to polish a little, refine some details. Login works, Roster is displaying properly, the editing is working, it is keeping logs and we have a back up function.
Need to update the displays and whatnot, but that's mostly cosmetic. Another day or two I would imagine and we'll go live.
Expect there to be bugs, glitches and stuff that we will just need to change to make more sense or be more user friendly once we get into it a bit. However, the bulk of the programming is done and operational.
