I had my D&D Character Commissioned

Post by Talolan »

:hailnor

I've been playing D&D with Tundrra, Zifnab, Roxanne, Nimm, Kermit and Arcon for about 1/2 a year now. I DM'd through the D&D 5E starter set, and then Tundrra DM'd those characters (with my new character replacing his old character) through the classic White Plume Mountain module.

I got a nice sales bonus for Q1 at work so I decided to have my character commissioned. Check this bad-assery out. Click here to view the full size image.

We're always looking for more players and more games, so check out the TableTop subforum.

Ok, the the final version I posted above was basically phase 6, "Fully Painted." Here is the rest of the process:

Phase 1: http://i.imgur.com/ZSoQtDW.png
Here the artist gave me 6 mocks ups just to see styles. My preference overall was B, and I liked parts of all 6 and I sent him the feedback about what I liked and didn't like about those six sketches.

Phase 2: http://i.imgur.com/7kVp0z4.png
Here the artist took my feedback from the first pass and made three more varying sketches. As you can see, the middle figure here is actually pretty close to the final iteration.

Phase 3: http://i.imgur.com/F2N7dSd.png
This was the design pose we talked about. Something more action oriented than just standing. If you look at the clothing, it pretty well matches the middle figure in phase 2, with the boots from the left figure. The metal pauldron also switched shoulders or it'd have been hidden in the new pose. "Realistically" the metal pauldron would be over her shooting arm, but then your choices are either hide it behind her body in the pose, or draw the pose from the other side, which then hides her whole body because of the extended shooting arm.

Phase 4: http://i.imgur.com/88IPhmm.png
Line art sketch instead of a rough sketch. The near arm got re-positioned to fix some weirdness in the anatomy.

Phase 5: http://i.imgur.com/4GVrumu.png
Unpainted, cell shaded version of the line art drawing. Last place to make changes. I didn't have any real notes on this one.

Phase 6 is the finished work in the original post above.
