Hacked Account

While I was recovering from my surgery someone hacked into my SWTOR/Origin account, transferred one of my characters and bought over 11 $99 cartel coins and tried to do the same through Origin. My bank put a quick stop to it and contacted me. Working with EA/SWTOR who are refunding everything and restoring my account. Recommend everyone to check their email accounts and change your passwords.

My SWTOR account is back up and running. Was on the phone with them today as they restored my account. Even with the security key they were able to request a password change and get into my account. Sounds like their security people are looking into how it happened. Still waiting on EA to get my Origin account fully fixed. Technically it's fixed, but my username is still tied to the hacker. Requested several call backs from them but nothing so far.

In unrelated news, feeling a lot better. Going for my follow up tomorrow and hoping to get rid of my med--vac then, but probably not. Will keep everyone updated.

I use PayPal for any games I pay a subscription fee for. I'm thinking I should change my PayPal password right now just to be safe. Realistically, passwords should be changed once a month, maybe even twice, and keep a hardcopy on paper, not stored anywhere on your hard drive. Passwords themselves are obsolete and need to be replaced with a more secure measure of safety, and hopefully some such measure is on the horizon. Security is really a non-stop game of one-upmanship anyway; you're only the best locksmith until someone builds a better lockpick, until you build a better lock, etc.
