I saw that so decided to install the beta and check it out as I am not sure how the F2P verus P2P options work in this game.

As a huge fan of Wizardry 8 having played it dozens of times all the way through I was disappointed that several of the races and classes I associate with Wizardry were missing but I decided to check it out anyways.

First up... Really.. I can re-roll my bonus point and get a number anywhere from 6 to 70. The median number seems to be 8. While people were saying that it didn't effect things to much obviously having higher stats is better. I know re rolling in many of the old school RPGs was just part of playing the game and I actually appreciated that in those games. In an online RPG it simply doesn't work especially in one with regular PK everywhere rules and Permadeath rules. After spending 40+ minutes trying to get a decent bonus roll I finally went with my highest number roll at 12. Yes I rolled two 12's in that time one 11 and one 10.

I went with an elven mage since I remember some pretty cool spells in the Wizardry games. I am not that big a fan of the looks and customization options of the characters but I want to get started so I simply picked and moved forward.

The game controls are a bit odd in the game but I managed to finish off part of the tutorial before I decided to play some DDO today. I will try to add a bit more about my thoughts on the beta if I play it some more later.

This launches tomorrow, Wednesday, I'll probably give it a try, because I try them all.

i tried last night, terrible queue's and once i was able to get in I made my character and then got kicked out when trying to get to the main server so i gave up.

Tried this morning, still around a 2 minute wait to get in. Got in walked around and logged out. I will not play this game any farther!!!! It was super cheesy and the character run animation for the human was the worst i have seen in a long time. I could not bare to watch my guy run.

bummer, i have always played the wizardry games back in the day.

GameSpy
Score: 3.5 / 5
Pros:
Bounties provide a smart balance for permadeath; Dark Souls-esque combat; agreeable free-to-play model.
Cons:
Looks dated; annoyingly cumbersome UI; great ideas, but dull execution.

MMO Reporter
Score: 3 / 4
Wizardry Online gets you addicted to the simple yet chaotic mechanics. Anyone looking for a challenging MMO and hasn’t thrown their mouse at a wall in quite a while should not miss this gem!

It reminded me that the fun games of the old days sometimes weren't that fun, they were just what was available.
Some mornings it just doesn't seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps.

Wizardry was that fun!!!

Was very sad to see this game was really nothing like the series. Even the races were wrong
