Introducing Loyalty

Greetings once again, Ascended!

Your actions in-game are rewarded all sorts of ways – achievements, loot, tokens, exp, and just good ol’ fashion fun. But, we’ve always believed that players should be thanked for their commitment to RIFT as an MMO they choose to continue to subscribe to and play. Previously, we’ve given rewards based on how long players may have been subscribed to RIFT through unlockable Veteran Rewards. Obviously that won’t work when subscriptions are no longer required! That’s where the new Loyalty system comes into play.

The Loyalty system is, at its core, the same philosophy – it’s our way of saying thanks for supporting RIFT. If you choose to spend real money in RIFT you’ll gain Loyalty (with one little loop hole discussed below *wink*). As you accrue Loyalty, your Loyalty meter will fill and unlock new rewards, like Special Costumes only available through Loyalty, the ability to change your target icon to Elite or Raid status, and unique dimensions. When RIFT 2.3: Empyreal Assault arrives, there will be 5 levels of loyalty and tons of rewards available. You’ll gain Loyalty by:

Purchasing or Spending Credits

Subscribing as a Patron

Consuming REX
The last one is the important loop hole to note – while REX is initially purchased with real money, it can be traded or auctioned by players for in-game currency before it is consumed and converted to Credits. This means you can gain Loyalty without ever spending real money at the RIFT Store. (We’ll talk more about REX in another post)

For all of our current and former subscribers – even though you may have already received Veteran Rewards, because you’re awesome, we’re going to give you a head start by awarding bonus Loyalty based on how long you’ve previously subscribed to RIFT. For most of you, that means you’ll have some rewards waiting for you the next time you log in after RIFT 2.3: Empyreal Assault goes live on June 12 – so remember to check the RIFT Store for your loot!
