Elysius 12 - Leirithymbul
After cooking some chicken perytons and leaving no remains for the escaped Perytons, the group kept going through the evening. The group skirted forest and mountain edge till a small lake glistened in the moonlight and Boske announced they had arrived. Boske instructed everyone to dismount but the wary travelers were spooked by metallic spider guardians watching their movements. Those are sentinels.

Bos’ke’s childhood village goes underground and under trees, it’s well hidden with optical illusions. The party is met by we meet Dimble, the new captain of the guard and village Artificer . She reports There are a resurgence of undead roaming the forest around. The undead wear the mark of Myrkul, the same we saw near the coastal cliffs.

Dimple runs off to see if the town’s elder Saltor (Divination Wizard) is able to take visitors at this hour, while Boske leads the party down a hidden stairwell to the Tavern and “big people” guest rooms. We learn of Bos’ke background story (family kidnapped and still missing) and the previous Captain was killed when a assassin attempted to kill Boske while their patrol was out in the forest. We also learn a bit of backround story from Daesy (he comes from the other side of the same Kryptogarden forest) and a green dragon (Claugiyliamatar/Gnawbone) may have destroyed were he comes from? Grafix a olt coot chimes in about ole Gnawbone.

Gninkan a older sister to Boske is wait8ng in the tavern, they catch up and introduce the heroes that boske found to help them find out what happened to their family. She secretly gives a note to Boske, which says to head to the lake alone and when he leaves Mara poorly follows and is tailed the stables. All sorts of gnome mechanics are stored there which occupies Mara and doesn’t notice Bos’ke attempt a second time, succeed and goes to a lake.

At the lake he grinds at some stone a waits....till deep voice speaks to him (gold dragon) and learns a bit about this father, and that is family is alive some where to the west in the sea. After the talk he is told to send the Elf his way before the group leaves.

Session Number 49: Bos’ke family is under Hydra’s grasp

Elysius 12-13 – The Tavern
-Bos’ke goes back to the tavern to look for Norm and confirm Mara returned from the stables. Bos’ke tells Norm he should go to the lake at sunrise to reflect. He also gives him a sandstone carved in a crude shape of a dragon.
-Daesy inquires about Dimble making ogre power gloves. For 200g per set, 10day to craft. Mara propose to gives 9 pairs of ogre hands in exchanges of crafting 5 pairs.

(Long Rest) Elysius 13th

-Norm gets up early and goes to the lake.
-Meanwhile Daesy asks about protection around this village. He learns that on 3 occasions a whole dwarven clan has attacked this village and each time been driven off by a protector spirit.
-Zorroth offers his services to the village as a cleric if they need help with anything.
Elysius 13– Sanrick the Old gnome
-Norms gets to the lake and meets the oldest gnome he ever seen, dressed in white with gold trims and golden eyes.
-They have a Discussion about power, patrons, (Norm’s patron is the fang of Bahamut). Gods talk etc etc. Sanrick gives him a necklace to protect him from detection against Norm’s enemies in exchange of a future “if I call you for help, come ASAP”.
-Norm ask about Valis’ Crystal but the specific information about this name is oddly just gone from Sanrick’s mind.
Elysius 13 – Blood divination
-Bos’ke met his sister and they go see Saltor the Divination Wizard. Daesy, Norm and Zorroth join while Mara sleeps in. Saldor explains he has a way to find Bos’ke family with a divination spell requiring the blood of his sister and him. 10 minute later the ritual is complete. The blood turns into mist and explodes dealing 46 damage to Saltor. We learn that Bos’ke family has been sent to Ascarle, a sunken elven island city. They complete the ritual one more time and confirm a second family member is also there. History check, Norm and Zorroth knows that the kraken Starkrethel lives by Ascarle (sunken sea elf city) and could be leader of a “kraken society”.
-After healing Saldor. Shopping! Boots of winterland (500g – Gutbur) and Spider Boots (500gp – Bos’ke).
-A trade contract is arranged with Leilon and Oswin’s spear goes back to Leilon.
Elysius 14– traveling

Elysius 15 – Help from Waterdeep
-Bailiearyl is a half-elf that delivered Zorroth a letter. The letter was given to her by another messager (Halfling named Foscoe Wildheart, Mara’s brother that had been chasing down Zorroth for the past few weeks and got tired of it).
-Zorroth is invited back in Waterdeep in 3 months for a Volo book unveiling. Zorroth is royalty but upset at his “merchant” family when he ran away to priesthood.
-We interrogate Bailiearyl who wants to become a maid under our employment. She’s hired!
-Final shopping montage. We buy 3 new horses (225gp – party fund) and pick up our platemail that have been modified to suit our sizes.

-We check the quest board:
Quest1: “Phandalin had some trouble with a cult of Talos in a lighthouse temple called the Tower of Storms. Now a strange boat or dead creature seems to be beached near the tower. Investigate this strange occurrence, kill or rout any cultists that might be there, then return to the town council to collect a reward of six potions of greater healing.”

Quest 2
“Farmers in the small community of Leilon Point report aquatic humanoids making small but frequent raids on the area. They’re killing farmers and burning Leilon’s food supply. Kill or rout the raiders, then return to the town council to collect a reward of 750 gp.”

-Seems Leilon is the consensus.

Session Number 50: Glowing Clams

Elysius 15 – Fox hunt
The group is back in Leilon. Mara goes and sing at the inn about Oswin’s spear victory vs Perytons and gathers some news from around the realms. Her song seems to be overshadow by the news of the return of Al Terel. The city that had disappeared, supposedly pulled into Avernus (the first layer of Hell), is now back at it’s former location in Faerun. It was saved by “the Beloved Ranger”. Zorroth knows there is a 9’ tall statue depicting a human in Baldur’s Gate named the beloved ranger.

Zorroth does a ritual to Selune on a secluded hill. While doing the ritual, he hears dogs howling in the distance. A silver fox appears at the top of the hill where he is and request his help eluding “the hunt”. The fox explains every full moon the hounds chase her in an infinite hunt. Sometimes she escapes, most of the time the hounds kill her, only to start anew at the next full moon. Zorroth watch the fox go into the forest as he goes and meet the hounds. He pretends to join them with hunting the fox. After a chase in the forest, they corner the fox in a clearing. Zorroth fake “missing to catch” the fox and let it go away. The hunt resume, but Zorroth just let them go. As he resume his ritual to Selune, he hears some pleas from help mentally from the fox, only for last wails when it seems the hounds got their quarry.

Elysius 16 – Glowing Clams (aka Leilon Point)
At breakfast, Mara reads Z’s fortune about the previous night. We then take the horse due west to Leilon Point (who had a problem with shark people attacking their stead). We arrive around lunch time. The whole village is in ruin, with dead animals and burnt buildings. Some of them are still standing. The first hut boarded is occupied by a man saying the village is not safe. Marciano is the head of the village and explain that 10 days ago attacks from shark people have started. Everyday they come from different direction and will attack then retreat after looting. 7 days ago some of the fishermen went down to the salt cave where they seem to be but have not been seen since. We go to the next hut (a shrine to Umberlee) but the door is not locked. Inside there is the body of a dead priestess elf. As we examine the hut we find a potion of water breathing (Bos’ke). Next we go the supply hut. Another dead human body, and nothing worth in this location. We go to the Hurl’s Hut. This one is empty. Inside we find a book about the Sahuagin, which potentially would match who is attacking this village. We go down the cliff into the Salt Caves
Elysius 16 – oh crap there’s more!
The first room contains a pile of bodies at the back. Norm notice something magical within. Mara goes and move the bodies to investigate, triggering a glyph of thunder (11dmg) heard across the cavern. Daesy cast Bless on Norm, Gutbur and Bos’ke as sahuagins appears. Roll for initiative!

Gutbur and Zorroth run away from Mara as fast as possible as she keeps surging…
  • Surge 5: Teleport 60ft out of the cave
    Surge 6: cast polymorph into a sheep on herself (resist)
    Surge 7: cast a poison curse, catching Gutbur
    Surge 8: Teleport another 60ft in another direction
    Surge 9: didn’t catch it? (but no lasting effect)
    Surge 10: disappear into the Astral Plane for 1 min

Finally the group can regroup and see the spoils of their victory. By the big clam was buried a treasure of:
  • 1300g (200gp for each member, 100gp to party funds)
    a black pearl worth 500gp.
Bos’ke inspect the sigil in the shark room and understand they were glyphs to turn the body of the shark into undead
Zorroth medicine check learns sahuagin’s blood can be used for potion of water breathing or water movement, we salvage 5 enchanted vials of blood

We advise the town chiefs the deed is completed, and to start mourning their dead and rebuild what was lost. The group take a long rest

Session Number 52: Dragon got crabs
Date: Wednesday, June 10

Elysius 17 – Dragon find
After we wake up from the long rest, Marciano comes out and meet us. He gives us 3 scrolls (1x lesser restoration, 2x greater restoration). The group leave Leilon Point and make way North. As we make way, we notice a huge dragon carved into the cliffs, like a “sphinx” looking out to the sea. Norm think this is a temple to Bahamut, an oddity in the realms. Mara, Norm and Bos’ke fly down the cliff to the opening in the tail. The statue is about 70feet tall.

As we enter the statue, Bos’ke notice a tripwire. History check from Bos’ke about the stones: it’s one of the last thing built before Talara’s Tower went haywire, about 100years ago by people of Leilon.

As we enter, we see 4 elderly humans dressed in faded blue tabards with a single eye weeping sign on it. Mara believe it’s the logo of the Scaly Eye shipping company.

Norm does introduction to the followers of bahamut that are seeking our help. Something has been affecting their leader’s mind for the past 20yrs or so and they have been kept prisoners in this place since. After questioning, the leader is a bronze dragon named Lhammaruntosz. As we walk through the rooms of the statue, we pass 90 or so tomb of former merchants and meet the rest of them being “saved” by the leader by being retained prisoner of this place.

In the last room, there is a dragon statue with a treasure around. As Norm tries to pay homage to it, he feel pushed back. The whole group is now together, Gutbur, Daesy and Zorroth having entered from a different hidden entrance. Oswin spears heads to the “head of the dragon” to meet with the leader and see what’s going on.

Foresight
As we meet the dragon, she explains that she has the gift of foresight and has seen the death of all her followers if they go outside this place, hence why she is protecting them by keeping them here safe. Daesy does some nature check and notice some odd barnacles on the wall behind the dragon, beside a huge window over the sea. As Daesy suggest to clean out the barnacles, Lhammaruntosz goes crazy. Roll for initiative!

Demon: pops out of the barnacle and cast Deasy (20dmg), cast confusion
Round 1
M: fails save, she is confuse and doesn’t do anything
D: Cast bless on Bos’ke, Norm and himself
B: summon his sword and try to persuade the dragon to look outside the window… which she does
N: attack the demon (20)

Dragon roars! And attack Bos’ke (21, 13, miss)

Round 2:
M: confuse and run out the window, but is flying. Takes out the extraplanar box, speak it’s command word and trap the demon! The dragon pass out from the shock.

Fight is over
Zorroth use the scroll of greater restoration and the dragon is no longer under the demon’s hold. She transform into a elf women and says we deserve Bahamut’s blessing. She explain she has a vision about the green dragon attacking Leilon, which is odd as that dragon has been known to stick the forest it’s using at it’s lair. Bos’ke pick a scimitar of speed? Vs a cloak of manta ray.

End of session – Short Rest – we resume our trek north to the Tower of Storm – Elysius 17 around lunch.

Session Number 53: Can't get enough of "Talo"(s) cultist...

Tower of Storms
Elysius 17 around lunch.
The group makes their way to the Tower of Storms just north of their current location.
While Bos’ke is bonding with his new weapon, he is not handling his horse, as it buckles him off and runs. Daesy has to sooth the horse back…

We get to the Tower of Storms late evening. We see a ship close to shore. The Tower of Storms isn’t a tower, it’s a location where a tower used to be by the cliffs. As we approach, there are half-orcs patrolling the deck. The ship is full of bones and spooky skeleton made. There are skeletons impaled on sticks on the beach, making sentries. This is a dreadnought boat with armed ballista.
Gutbur attempts to sneak closer to have a look (nat 1), that doesn’t work!

As we wait for the nightfall to approach, Norm makes a history check (20). He can tell, when ignoring the bones, that’s he’s pretty sure this boat is from the old kingdom of Netheril which was destroyed 1000yr ago, somehow still looking pristine. Mara goes forward and approaches the boat. After casting comprehend languages, she spy's on the boat crew. The half-orcs have the lightning bolt of Storm emblem on them and the skeleton who seem prisoners or fodder have the mark of Myrkul. The casters stay on the cliff top, Norm and Gutbur drop down on the boat deck to dispatch the cultists.

We go swim/fly back to shore. In the bag is 3 potion of greater healing (1x Baiz, 2x Mara) and a +2 mace name bonecrusher (Z)
We take along rest – Elysius 18, Mara’s hair is all back. During the night, the skeleton on pikes goes dead
We make it back to Leilon – Elysius 19
Mara visit the temple of Tymora and meets Puck

Can’t sneak on another Flaming Skull
We go back to Bos’ke city were we get some news from Old Maw (green dragon). The group finish buying 4 platinum ring for Daesy’s spell. We go into the kryptogarden forest
In the forest, we see a another flaming skull with ghouls walking around, we attempt to stealth, as usual the group fails, roll for initiative!

Group resume the walk to Claugiyliamatar’s lair
We get to the cave entrance. There is 4 of them. We take the north one. Around the bend we encounter 2 firgbold tending to 6 phasing spiders. They yell for intruders, as B attempt to parlay (fail), roll for initiative.
M: cast hypnotic patern. 5 spider charmed and the 2 firgbold
D: recognize the spider as phase spiders, shake awake 1 firgbold and ask to stop the attack (23 persuasion)
B: attempt to intimidate
G: move, hold attack
N: move, hold attack
PS1: as it starts moving, G & N attack – dead
Z: notices vines on the cave walls are twitching behind us
FB1: agrees to speak with D only. Shake FB2 awake and goes to talk

They explain they are the gnawbones druid tending to Claugiyliamatar’s need. FB1 agrees to let us past, her name is Kylm and the male FB2 is Incirion
We walk past the spider cave into a main chamber decorated with women statues. (Vase Sephir,Blackstaff of Waterdeep, Laeral Silverhand, Lady Paladin of Tyr, Danica Bonaduce, etc.)
As the group keeps walking deeper, Z & D fail constitution saves and are now poisoned. Z runs into a statue, take 5dmg and wake up from his poison stupor, while D runs for the pit of poison in the middle of the cavern. B lightning lure him back to safety.
We are on the edge of a river of poison and need to cross. In the middle is a statue of Alistair, women Knight of Cormyr. Mara attempt to fly across but vines comes down and lashes at her, so she goes back. Gutbur ferry everyone across using boots of water walking.

As we make our way across, on the other side we meet Claugiyliamatar

Session Number 57: Mara angers a dragon

Mara charms a dragon
The group faces the biggest dragon they have ever met standing tall over the group amid standing post with adorning crystal balls. Claugiyliamatar explain she use those to spy on the outside world. Mara takes the lead and appeal to her wyrmliness that Oswin’s spear have received a vision of destruction, a green majestic dragon destroying Leilon. The group was sent to parlay and see what could trouble her into such small thing to do. Claugiyliamatar confirm that undeads have been invading her territory and she is getting annoyed, to the point where she is considering attacking Leilon to find out who behind all this. Oswin’s spear agree to do this on her behalf since undead are also causing them troubles, and this would be just a small favor in return of her peace. Claugiyliamatar accept and explain that her investigation have only unearth the name of Viantha Cruelhex as possible responsible for creating the undead. She has sent many owlbear to track this creature but none has return. The group exit the cave (explore 2 more statues, Amali CastleAnter and Cattie-Brie) throughout the south exit without hinderance, having gained Oldmaw approval to be in her lair.

Tracking Owl(bear)
Since we are tracking owlbears to see where they have disappear, and since they are part owl, Gutbur easily find the prints and we start hicking the forest.5 hours later we encounter traces of undead group. The tracks lead us to a small clearing with an undead lady doing a ritual in the middle. Attempting to sneak, Gutbur fail miserably. Roll for Initiative!

Mara scares a dragon away
Based on hints of the camp, the amount of group track leading out in many direction, we are sure this is Viantha creating the undeads from here. We look around and find a book “Summoning creature on behalf of Myrkul for dummies”. Inside the cover is signed “To my greatest fan Viantha, from Ularan Mortus” (ok, it actually says property of Ularan Mortus). Daesy send a message to Claugyamatar who recognize the name and ask us to bring back the book and Viantha’s head.

We take a long rest and the following morning head back. Claugiyliamatar explains Ularan used to be one of her followers but took off after stealing one of her mask to attempt to raise Tiamat. Ularan was suppose to be dead after the attempt to raise Tiamat failed. As she finish this explanation, Claugiyliamatar has a fit and another voice comes out of her: “I Chandanseravitriol the Ebondeath have returned, praise to Myrkul”. 4 undead appears as she start flying away (probably scared of Mara). Roll for initiative.
